Nine teams from Mainland and Isles have confirmed to compete at this year’s edition of Tanzania Open swimming championship that gets underway in Dar es Salaam on October 11.
Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) secretary general Noel Kiunsi said preparation is going well with nine clubs registered of which six are Dar es Salaam- Mwanza and Arusha.
He said sponsors are shunning away. Holders Taliss Club from Dar es Salaam looks well set for title retention.
Taliss team coach Joseph Mwita said they are prepared well to compete. ‘This season we have our winning strategies to go about, and I always talk to my players that, with determination we can make it,’ he said.
Meanwhile, Zanzibar International School’s coach Fahad Said hopes his charges would to do wonders and possibly have a podium finish.
Clubs lined up for the tourney include University of Dar es Salaam, Dar Swim Club, Tanzania Marine Club, Taliss, Hopac, and Stingrays Club all from Dar es Salaam.
Other clubs are Mwanza’s Isamilo International School, KMKM, Zanzibar International School, and Arusha Swim Club.
